    Ian Kennedy (President)

    Ian is Managing Practice Director of McLaughlins Lawyers, a firm which has been providing legal services from the Gold Coast since 1958, the last 29 years from Southport and Bundall.

     Ian was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in New Zealand in 1987, later practiced and was admitted in England and Wales before returning to practice in New Zealand.  Ian has been with McLaughlins since 2001, is married with two children, and has lived with his family in the Ecovillage at Currumbin since its inception in 2006.

    Ian chairs the Southport Community Consultative Committee quarterly meetings and has a passion for the growth of Southport as the CBD.

    Ian is also President of the Friends of the Arts a charitable company focused on encouraging and supporting the Arts on the Gold Coast and which also operates a Gift Fund which provides financial support for exceptional Gold Coast young performers.

    After graduating from Griffith University with the Vice Chancellor's award for Academic Excellence, Ariana has gained extensive experience in PR and marketing across both the corporate and not for profit sectors. She is currently the Communications & Marketing Manager for CoSpaces on Nerang Street and is passionate about millennial engagement and the activation and direction of Southport.

    Ariana is also a founding member and current board member of Southport Place Collective, a not for profit organisation that aims to grow the culture of corporate partnerships, governing bodies and millennial consultation within the Gold Coast's CBD.

    Liam is an urban planner and Associate Director with planning, property and design consultancy Urbis, based in Southport. Liam has over 10 years' experience in the urban development industry, focussed on the Gold Coast and Northern NSW region. His clients include local authorities as well as local, national and international property and development groups. Liam resides in Southport with his young family and is a passionate advocate for the area as the CBD of the Gold Coast.

    Kiel is the Founder and Managing Director of Dean and Cooper, a leading boutique Accounting and Bookkeeping firm based in the heart of the Southport CBD.

    He is deeply connected to the area, having grown up on the Gold Coast and being educated at A.B. Patterson College and Bond University.

    He feels strongly that Southport has always been THE place to be on the Gold Coast for business and commercial enterprises, and wants to ensure its future prosperity and position.  Through his ongoing involvement with community advocacy and engagement groups, he has already shown his commitment to promoting the interests of Southport.

    Kiel currently holds the position of Treasurer at YP Gold Coast, a leading professional advocacy body which aims to motivate and inspire future city leaders, in addition to holding the role of Treasurer for the Committee for Southport Gold Coast CBD Inc. which works to promote Southport in a broader scope.  

    In both roles, he brings integrity and honesty, fresh ideas and consistent support to the Committees and Members, and he is ready to bring his experience and enthusiasm to the Southport Chamber of Commerce in the role of Vice-President. Kiel understands the issues facing the Southport business community, and can see the vision for the city into the future with the support of the leading advocacy groups.

    Sam is a partner at IP Partnership, a Commercial Law Firm with an office in Zupp Place, Southport and founded by Ivan Poole. The firm has specialised in Intellectual Property and Franchising Law since 1995, predominately acting for local and interstate Franchisors and Licensors. Sam is also the Secretary and a shareholder of Mr P.P.'s Bar and Deli a restaurant located on Nerang Street, Southport.

    Lorraine is the CEO of Maylake Pty Ltd, a Southport based commercial property company and owners of the Gold Coast Business Hub. She has been with the company in excess of 19 years and in the property industry for over 35 years. Lorraine also has experience in tourism and marketing as a previous Tourism Manager for The Tweed Shire Council.

    Lorraine is also an Ambassador for Vinnies Gold Coast CEO Sleepout as well as volunteering her time for Gold Coast Support Group for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) for over 7 years.

I completed all of my schooling locally and proud that I am working at The MBA Partnership assisting local Gold Coast clients achieve their goals. I am a Treasurer of 3 not for profit organisations where I am responsible for all aspects of financial management. I am a Chartered Accountant and have also completed my Masters of Taxation and Diploma of Financial Planning.

    A qualified civil engineer and principal of Grummitt Planning, head of a town planning consultancy which has operated in Southport since its inception in 1996. Noel is involved in many of the regions notable developments and acted as the Chambers observer at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games after which he has been able to advise on benefits and advantages to be gained by the GC.  Noel loves Southport and its people and is excited about its future.

    Laird established ALB, a National Mailing List Company, over 30 years ago and since that time, has been associated with many Not For Profit Businesses in Honorary Roles, previously Chair of the Aust. Direct Marketing Association QLD, Board member of the Fundraising Assoc. QLD and President of the Milton Chamber of Commerce.  As a previous Adjunct Fellow at Bond University lecturing in Direct Marketing, Laird understands the importance of making the Gold Coast a Hub for Education and Health, apart from existing Tourism and Construction.

    As the Past President for 10 years, Laird has always worked with all sides of the Political Spectrum to bring about positive change and ensure the Bureaucrats that make decisions that affect us are aware of the Impact on Businesses and Residents alike.

    Laird has run a successful marketing business based on the Coast for 16+ years. He managed the Chambers revival 10 years ago in order for it to become a respected voice for business and now the leading Chamber in the official CBD of the Gold Coast. This has ensured the Chamber will become a strong representative for business and the associated commercial developments that lie ahead.
