Rapid Transit in Southport...

…….it’s the largest Infrastructure Project that's happening on the Gold Coast.

For many years, its been increasing obvious that the entire Coast needs an 'efficient as possible' rapid transit system to move us around the suburbs - whilst integrating with our road system, heavy rail, residential concerns, current and future commercial precincts, bus routes etc.

Not a simple exercise and one that leaves many questioning the mode of transport, the 'seamlessness' of integration, the cost and disruption - now and in the future, with essentially a car-based population.

But decisions have been made by the powers-that-be……and be Part of the Process, our Chamber has made a choice to work as closely as possible with Department of Transport and Main Roads to minimise disruption to our Southport businesses, help find solutions to the loss of immediate parking and traffic relocation ............ there will be many issues to address, but to ignore what’s going on around us would to be letting our members down and ignoring reality.
