In December 2009 the Gold Coast City Council adopted the latest Local Area Master Plan for the Central Southport Area. This plan contains a series of strategies to enable the development required to strengthen Southport’s position as the CBD of the Gold Coast. Through a mix of uses and densities the strategies offered aim to reconnect Southport with its tree, shop and café lined streets and the waterfront that bounds it.
